KLA Website inaguration

With the aim of preserving the important documents of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, the process of digitization of its documents was initiated. The public can avail themselves of this opportunity to browse through the details of the prestigious government body through internet.

The complete assembly proceedings of Travancore, Cochin, Travancore-Cochin from the year 1888 to 1956 down to the present day are being digitized which can in turn be accessed by the public from the internet with many advanced search options.

Apart from the assembly proceedings, the legislations passed till the current day, various reports submitted by committees, the numerous news clippings on KLA’s proceedings by media are also made part of the digitization process. The massive volume of documents, around 5 lakh in number, is planned to be digitized before of this financial year end and the work is swiftly progressing.

Canon Information Systems Research Australia (CiSRA) became a Customer of SBL Graphics
Cochin, 13th January 2011: With an experience that has covered long laps in Image Editing landscape, SBL is now proud to add another feather in the cap. Our Graphics Department has joined in agreement with one of the world’s leading research centres of Canon, viz. Canon Information Systems Research Australia (CiSRA) for Image Editing and Enhancement Services. SBL will be getting 5,000 to 20,000 images at a time for editing. SBL is committed to deliver quality image outputs for Canon that will support various research activities in CiSRA.

“Doyens’ Hash Out”- A Meet to Transform SBL into Newer Perspectives
Cochin, 16 May 2011: Aimed to transform SBL more into a next-gen IT Company, the Head of the departments had a brainstorming meet, namely, “Doyens’ Hash Out,” at Travancore Courts Hotel in Cochin on 14th May 2011. Presided by the CEO of SBL and other top Managers, it gave way for an intense discussion on topics of future prospects as a leading IT services and solutions provider, and more. The Meet was enlightening and the same will be a cause for future growth of SBL.

In the meet all the HODs were given opportunity to share their views and ideas. Apart from the innovative ideas suggested, active participation of all members was noted from the beginning to the end. During the event, the management team reviewed and finalised the new policy of Code of Conduct to be implemented in SBL soon.

Digital Archives of Kerala Legislative Assembly Inaugurated
Thiruvananthapuram, 11 May 2011: The much yearned project of the Government of Kerala, the Digital Archives of Kerala Legislative Assembly - an online resource of KLA proceedings, came alive on 10th May, 2011. In the function organized by Kerala Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Speaker Shri. K Radhakrishnan officially inaugurated the website. The function was attended by Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Shri. Jose Baby, Niyamasabha secretary Shri P D Rajan, MLA's, the CEO of SBL and SITCO Mr. Gopakumar and other KLA members and management team of SBL. The new website inclusive of the digital archive of KLA is a complete modification of the existing website and it gives the public quick access to all the records and documents about the Legislative Assembly proceedings happened in Kerala from the time of Travancore-Cochin Rule to the present. The digitization and the creation of the website with search engine features were carried out by SBL.

During the inaugural function, Mr. Gopu G, the Program Manager of SBL, gave a brief on the interfaces and administration functions of the website.

SBL Graphics Ramp-up Meet
Cochin, 9 May 2011: Continuing the chain of Ramp-up Meets organized for each department of SBL, it was the turn of Graphics department to have their share of joy on 7th May 2011 at Travancore Courts Hotel, Ernakulam. The meet was attended by all members of SBL Graphics team and the top management team of SBL including the CEO Mr. Gopakumar. After the inaugural felicitation by the CEO, the other doyens of SBL also felicitated the audience. It was followed by the Releasing of the SBL Graphics Handbook. Mr. Gopu Gangadharan, the Program Manager, gave a short brief on the Graphics Handbook. Mr. Jinu, the Graphics Lead, presented the Vision 2011 of SBL Graphics. It showcased the future plans of Graphics team to become one of the major contributors to SBL’s growth. Mr. Dileep, Mr. Arun and Mr. Sunil Menon gave their words of encouragement to SBL Graphics Team. The whole meet was said to have had a good influence on each Graphic member and each of them have decided to contribute their best to achieve the Vision 2011 objectives of SBL Graphics. The meet was closed by vote of thanks by Mr. Jinu and lunch thereafter.

The Employee-oriented Program - People Plus, launched
Cochin, 15 March 2011: Beginning a new era of employee satisfaction, the SBL management team has launched the first People Plus initiative here on 14th March, 2011. Put into action after a dignitary note from the CEO of SBL, Mr. Gopakumar, the objective of the People Plus was circulated among all employees. The highlight of the People Plus includes four introductory plans - HOPE, Rendezvous, Open House and The Club.

HOPE includes initiative to help the poor and needy people with the valid contributions from each employee. Rendezvous is the year-round family get together of SBL employees. Open House gives the chance for employees to talk openly to the top management on any issues, any time. The Club would focus on bringing in a factor of entertainment, togetherness and change of energy levels in associates on floor.

SBL unveils e-Dinette – Another Dimension to Hospitality

SBL Ramp-up Meet for BPO Services and Solutions
Quilon, 23 January 2011: It was a resourceful day for the Genealogy team during the SBL Ramp-up Meet organized at SBL Karunagapally delivery centre on 22nd January, 2011. Mr. Gopakumar, the CEO of SBL, inaugurated the meet.

Adding value to the process learning of SBL BPO team, Mr. Jayakrishnan (Manager IT) and Mr. Dileep Kumar (Senior Manager IT) gave training on the use of BPO processing tools and its use. Others who delivered presentations during the meet were the Marketing Manager, Mr. Abhilash Pillai on Team Satisfaction vs Client Satisfaction; the BPO Project Lead, Mr. Shaji on roles & responsibilities of Leads; and the Asst. HR Manager, Mr. Gopu on SBL BPO Handbook. The one-day meet was a groundbreaking experience for all BPO staff and it really inspired them aim the highest and achieve higher.

SBL Genealogy Ramp-up Meet
Quilon, 9 January 2011: SBL Ramp-up Meet for Genealogy Department was held at Hotel Regency on 8th January 2011. The one day meet was inaugurated by the CEO of SBL, Mr. Gopakumar. Others top officials present for the meet were the Vice President-Technology Mr. Ashok G. Nair; the Vice President-Administration Mr. Vijayaraj; the Finance Manager Mr. Sanjeev; the Senior Manager-IT Mr. Dileep Kumar; and the HODs of all service verticals of SBL.

The whole sessions in the Meet were energizers for the Genealogy team, especially the inaugural address of the CEO of SBL. He conveyed his best wishes for the Genealogy Team and encouraged them to be the best-doers in their own tasks and give out their best for the growth of SBL. The Meet also witnessed the unveiling of SBL Genealogy Handbook.

SBL Conducts Blood Donation Camp in Madurai
Madurai, 7 January, 2011: Corporate social responsibility has always been one of the prime credos of SBL. Our Madurai Branch, had organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at Hajiar Complex, Madurai on 6 January, 2011. The SBL employees donated blood to the needy patients of Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. Tamil Nadu Aids Control Society and State Blood Transfusion Council appreciated SBL employees for their efforts and encouraged them to widen their act of charity and awareness to more regions. 

Through this blood donation camp, SBL intends to spread the importance of raising awareness about blood donation. SBL has plans to conduct similar social awareness programme in the near future, thus serving the society in the best possible way

SBL wins the contract for Document Management System and Digitization of Documents 
Trivandrum, 05 January 2011:  SBL bags the deal with Government of Kerala’s integral body, the Kerala Legislative Assembly (KLA), for architecting a full fledged Document Management System with the digitization of Legislative Assembly proceedings records. SBL’s previous experience in this sector with national and international clients was given valid consideration for assigning this project engagement for Kerala’s administrative think-factory.  

The partnership between the state government and SBL can help in the conversion of large number of records stacked inside Legislative assembly in to digitized documents. SBL will also devise, develop and implement a full-fledged Document Management System for KLA, which can create an easy channel for the accessibility, retrieval and even updating of digitized documents. With the initiation of this project, Government of Kerala and SBL look forward for a continuing partnership in other verticals too.
